Hickman Holler Funds
Appalachia has a rich, vibrant history and culture, yet it also sits at the center of real environmental and economic challenges. Tyler Childers and Senora May created the Hickman Holler Appalachian Relief Fund as a way to invest in the region’s resilience and community care, then grew that commitment into two connected efforts: a relief-focused fund and a long-term college fund designed to widen access to higher education. The college fund alone is projected to send over 5,000 students to school in their lifetime. What makes this story stand out is how the fund invites participation. Supporters from around the world keep showing up because they can feel the authenticity of Tyler and Senora’s connection to Appalachia, and they can see the giving in action over time.
This is giving that not only feels like home, but reaches beyond it. As ambassadors, Tyler and Senora are committed to giving with an abundance of love for where they are from and where they are headed.
With Music Community Foundation, Tyler and Senora can focus on listening, learning, and showing up for their home, while the fund’s structure, due diligence, and grantmaking support make their giving consistent from year to year.
